SAN PIETRO IN VINCOLI, SAPIENZA UNIVERSITY OF ROME, ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT
Via Eudossiana 18, 00184 Roma

The historic headquarters of the Faculty of Civil and Industrial Engineering is located at Via Eudossiana 18, next to the Church of San Pietro in Vincoli, just a few minutes’ walk from the Colosseum.
The Faculty, which is arranged around a cloister attributed to Giuliano da Sangallo—one of the most important examples of Renaissance architecture in Rome—was founded in 1817 by the will of Pope Pius VII, following the Viennese and Parisian model of the most renowned Schools of Engineering of the time.
In 1935, following the Gentile Reform, the School became the Faculty of Engineering and expanded over the years with a remarkable range of academic programs. Its goal has been to educate professionals with a strong cultural background, qualified to meet the real educational and research needs of society, and equipped with the skills necessary to promote and develop processes of technological innovation in various cultural fields.
